UAV photogrammetry. Large scale analysis with 3D modelling in the urban area
Keywords:
Digital photogrammetry, UAV, 3D analysisAbstract
The report illustrates the importance of photogrammetric applications in the disciplines related to the study of the territory, and the
urban environment, experimenting with some applications to assess the degree of accuracy achievable with very low altitude footage,
and high resolution sensors, carried out by UAV (UnmannedAerial Vehicle). These low-cost techniques, economically sustainable even
for modest territorial extensions, allow to generate updated 3D information layers useful to technicians, administrators, planners and
in general to all those who, involved in the urban development planning, require the definition of projects both on a territorial scale
and in detail.
The work was carried out in the GIS Laboratory for Environmental Planning and History of the Territory (ProSIT) of the Department
of Architecture Design and Urbanism of Alghero (SS) and includes a three-dimensional analysis of details in urban areas (3D survey
and vector return) whose purposes are mainly related to the study of the volumes of the built, to the construction of the altimetric
sections, to the vegetation studies for the green areas.
The phases of project and surveywill be described in the presentation of the case study, by examining all the aspects of this methodology
(from the phase of flight planning, management and data processing, up to that of restitution in stereoscopy and cartographic production
according to INSPIRE Directive) and assessing the potential and the critical aspects of the tools and procedures considered. The
comparison between classical shooting and digital aerial photogrammetric restitution and today's procedures based on semi-automatic
procedures is interesting.
