In this paper a study conduct within the DIMMER Project for the realization of a GIS for the potential energy evaluation of the
buildings in the urban areas is presented. In this preliminary step the method was tested on a portion of Crocetta area in the Turin
district. The process will be extended to other part of the investigated area, considering it is supposed to produce reliable results.
Initially, through photogrammetry techniques and Structure from Motion (SfM) software, different procedures for generation of 3D
model were tested. In this step, different elaboration were necessary to achieve reliable results and use them within successive
processing. Different procedures were evaluated and compared in order to identify the best process that generates a desired model.
The selection of the best 3D model was done taking into account the timetable of the elaboration, the precision and the accuracy. In
the second step, through GIS software, information useful for the energy purpose was extracted. The reliability of results was
confirmed through a comparison with real data. Finally, in order to give back the information at the final consumers, a GIS tool was
realized.
